Although in retrospect, the album is called ARTPOP, the title doesn't scream successful, we should have been prepared since the 'new ink, new album' tweet back in August 2012.

Some people found the title amazing and iconic. I knew she was going to bomb with album called ARTPOP. This just couldn't end well.
I find it hard to care about G.U.Y flopping. Radio didn't even give it a chance and Gaga/Interscope barely seemed to fight for it. Plus, whilst I enjoyed the video and had hope, I never thought it was the right choice.
I'd be more concerned if the songs were fantastic, the handling brilliant, airplay fortunate and coverage relentless...but people were still not buying it. That would be worrying. As it stands, I feel it's totally fixable if all parties don't mess around.
Frankly, it feels like ARTPOP needed to happen. So many lessons are (hopefully) being learnt. Not just for her, her team and her label, but her fans and even her critics. Complacency, overestimation and inconsistency all round.
Do you think G.U.Y. still has some chance at the VMA even flopping?
I fear not
This era is over tbh and it's 100% Gaga's fault... she refused/neglected to promote during the era, she acted a bitter mess, and she went on a mid-era blackout
