Fifteen-year-old Chelsea James became known around the world when she was pulled on stage by the popstar, who then sang her single Halo to the Newcastle youngster in 2009.
She changed the lyrics to say "Chelsea I can see your halo, I pray you won’t fade away" in the moving tribute that went viral after footage was posted online and also shared by Ellen DeGeneres.
Last night, Chelsea's mother, Donna James, wrote that the brave teenager had passed away in hospital.
I was just thinking about her and wondering about her progress a while back, after Taylon(?) passed away So sad to hear this At least she had 5 more years since then, hopefully there were some good, pain-free ones in there she got to share with her family
