That's a bad analogy.
Michael and Britney still had a career and major success AFTER their scandals while Janet's career was destroyed (and even with that people won't be able to deny how she was the blueprint for subsequent female popstars forever...).
The thing is their scandals and controversy were bigger than most (if not all) popstars' careers and their musical output... In the end, it becomes part of their narrative: the rise, and fall and rise again.
