SHOCKING NEWS: Britney agrees to sole custody for K-Fed!
Quote:

Britney Spears has agreed to hand the parenting reins over to Kevin Federline.
K-Fed's longtime attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan exclusively tells E! News that the divorced duo have reached a settlement in their long-gestating custody case.
According to the agreement signed by all parties, Federline gets sole legal and physical custody of sons Sean Preston and Jayden James and Spears will have visitation rights.
"The case has been settled," Kaplan said. "The court still has to approve it. " Both parties are due in court Friday morning.
The case had been set to go to trial next month but all had been hoping to settle up beforehand.
"As of this evening there is a fully executed deal memo...All the issues that would have been addressed at trial have been settled," Kaplan told E! News. "Can't speak to the exact terms of the deal. Orders in place...will stay in place."
But although this is theoretically good news for Federline, Kaplan maintains that this isn't exactly what his client had in mind.
"Kevins was not [out] to get custody. Kevins goal was to set up some kind of template so the mother of his children can co-parent," Kaplan said.
"He said I need to have Britney to be involved in the coparenting of the kids but I need there to be a structure."
But this is the structure he got and "Kevin is absolutely delighted," Kaplan continued.
"Nobody could have anticipated the terms of events that have occurred....This was a two-year journey that will be halted at a point that is good for these children. Custody is always modifiable. If there is a final order, it means there is nothing to try."
Spears has been enjoying monitored visits with her boys since late February after temporarily losing any on-hand-mommying privileges following a stretch of noticeably erratic behavior on her part and two brief hospital stays.
Federline's camp has credited the influence of Spears' father Jamie, who was appointed a coconservator of his daughter's estate Feb. 1, for helping to get the 26-year-old popster back on track.
A court commissioner is scheduled to review whether the make the conservatorship permanent at the end of this month. If the arrangement were to end, what then happens to Spears' current deal?
"While I can't tell you the terms, the order does anticipate what happens if the conservatorship is ended," Kaplan told E! News. "The devil is always in the details and this is a very detailed deal memo.
"Nobody can predict what the future will bring but ...to the extent possible I think we have really anticipated how to proceed."

The only reason could be she's afraid of losing the rights she has now... But if K-**** says he wanted her to participate more, how could that happen? :-/ Seriously, what a stupid move of hers!

SHE HAD TO DO THIS, she cant get any more custody with her dad controlling her life, she cant get anymore than visitation, so why fight for a lost cause.
She did a smart thing not going to trial and risk losing.
She will most likely gain more from this move than lose.
She will fight for more in the future when shes fully able too.
Its not like she was like wtf let him have the kids, this was a probably well-thought out decision.
This is her best move to do, and im sure her lawyers told her that.

LMAO. What's with the overreaction?! It's not shocking news at all. It's a smart move by her lawyers. The whole agreement is to keep everything as it is until the conservatorship ends and then she will ask for the 50/50 custody, duh.

Exactly, i dont get why people dont get that, she cant get anymore custody with the conservatorship, she'd be risking more going to trial.
SMART MOVE BRITNEY!
Im positive once the conservatorship ends and shes fully prepared to show the court she deserves her kids she will be back to get 50/50, or at least 40/60.

THINK ABOUT IT.
on paper, yes K.Fed has sole custody,
but in actuality Britney is getting about a 50/50 deal!
She currently sees them for 3 days with 1 overnight, and with this settlement she will get more,
There's ONLY 7 days in a week, so that's about 50/50.
Britney can NOT get custody officially while she is under conservatorship because she is basically "not mentally stable" as defined by the courts. A judge will not grant someone under conservatorship custody. So this is the next best thing. A VERY smart move by Britney and her team.
Once the conservatorship ends, she will most likely get 50/50 officially.
Don't believe the spin that K.Fed's lawyers are putting on this news.

from PEOPLE.COM
Britney Spears and her ex Kevin Federline have reached a custody settlement in their epic court battle over their two sons.
According to the agreement, which still needs to be signed off on by the court, Federline retains sole custody of the couple's two sons, Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2. Spears – who's currently allowed two visits and one overnight per week – will keep her visitation rights.
"The case has been settled," Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan (working with attorney James Simon), tells PEOPLE. "This is the end of a two-year journey."
Spears's attorney, Laura Wasser, said outside the courtroom after the hearing: "Britney's doing great. She's very pleased [with the settlement]. The kids are with her right now."
Without giving details, Wasser confirmed that Spears did win "more custodial time" with the boys.
The legal saga, which began with shared 50-50 custody in July 2007, culminated in the most dramatic of public downfalls: Spears – the pop powerhouse worth an estimated $100 million – was twice forcibly hospitalized early this year for mental health issues. (Her father Jamie stepped in to take legal control of her affairs.)
However, a judge can always modify custody settlements – and a source close to Spears tells PEOPLE the singer will likely get increased visitation as time goes on.
"Until the kids turn 18, we can expect in years to come that Britney and Kevin will be back in court," says L.A. family lawyer Lynn Soodik, who is not involved with the case. "Britney will have a better chance of winning more custody once she regains her health. This is just the end of Round One."
E! was first to report the couple's settlement.

From E!
Custody Case: Almost A Done Deal
Kevin Federline may be on his way to receiving sole custody, but he's not the sole winner in his battle with Britney Spears.
Attorneys for both sides met with Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon this morning in a bid to get final approval for a deal that would give K-Fed sole legal and physical custody of sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1. Spears, meanwhile, will get a boost to her current visitation rights—with the possibility of much more to come.
"She gets increased visitation and additional overnights, and once the conservatorship ends, she will ask the court to change it back to a shared 50/50 legal and physical custody," a source close to Spears told E! News.
Laura Wasser, attorney for the 26-year-old "Gimme More" singer, told reporters outside the courtroom that Spears is more than happy with the terms of the deal.
"Britney is really pleased," she said. "She has the kids today."
Pleased or not, while the deal is as good as done, it's not yet on the record books, despite this morning's hearing.
"I believe we will come to an agreement and the agreement will be converted into a legal document sometime in the future," Kaplan said. "I will not comment on the terms of the agreement. It will not be filed today.
"Right now it is a private agreement. It has not been turned into an order."
"Nothing has been filed," court spokesman Alan Parachini confirmed. "A resolution is imminent. What that is, don't know, because we haven't seen it yet.
"Neither Britney nor Kevin came to court today. But [the attorneys] did indicate they are working on a settlement."
News of a settlement in the long-gestating, headline-grabbing case broke last night, when Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told E! News "all the issues that would have been addressed at trial have been settled."
