Riding a thunderbolt of popularity, pop star Bruno Mars has decided to part company with his luscious 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath East Honolulu spread. Built in 1991, the 4,124-square-foot Portlock house situated on 1/3 of an acre has inherent panache: exotic hardwood floors, gorgeous outdoor dining cabanas, hot tub (for parties!), pool side lounging and a tricked-out chef’s kitchen all about gourmet. And that giant master bath tub is fit for a duet.

When they were handing out looks, talent and heartthrob charm, Bruno Mars must have gotten in line for seconds (or thirds). The 28-year-old Grammy-winner is on an envious streak with two platinum albums (yes, in the age of digital downloads) and an expanding “It” factor:

The dreamy-eyed one was featured in Forbes’ “30 Under 30” and gave the biz mag a curated playlist of 30 tracks that included Red Hot Chili Peppers, A Tribe Called Quest and The English Beat. Forbes described Mars’ fashion sense as “post-Saturday Night Fever meets Prince.” Well, maybe. But Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world, so peeps are checking him out. All this from a guy who can make the pompadour work with a stylized mash-up of Motown, Reggae and R&B moves. He brings it.

And the man with the world at his feet is ditching the Honolulu scene for the mainland, right on the heels of a stampede for tickets to his (now) sold out Honolulu concerts slated for April. Quietly, with little fuss, the Next Big Thing put his 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath Portlock home in East Honolulu on the market for $3.5 million. There’s 4,124 square feet in two stories of flowing space to play in. Sitting on just over one-third of an acre and built in 1991, the home rates high on the custom side, with a gourmet chef’s kitchen, vaulted ceilings and beautiful exotic hardwood flooring.

Mars purchased this most private spread in 2012 from Browning firearms heir John Browning for $3.1 million. As an aside, in what sounds like a shopping spree, that same year Mars also snapped up a Los Angeles mansion previously owned by George Clooney and Frank Zappa for $3.3 million.

I thought about that but then his dad is married I think, not sure about that.

I guess it's too hard for him to keep it especially when his mom barely lived there for a year before her death.

He's staying in a hotel right now instead of going back there.
