Well, when I think of someone who has "something to prove", I think of someone who actually is talented, but isn't showing it. The one who fits that description to a tee is Miley. The first impression she made on most of the world is twerking her non-ass, singing off key and out of breath, and sticking her tongue out in a tacky parody of herself. It got her the exposure she wanted, but now she's going to have to prove herself against that first impression for the rest of her career if she wants people to see the talent which she does, in fact, possess.
Bey, Gaga and Alicia have all pretty much proven themselves, if someone doesn't accept their talent it's on them but the proof is out there if you care to look for it. Maybe Gaga still has some proving to do, as there are still SOME people I run into who don't know she's actually a very good live singer, behind the gimmicks, but I think more pop fans than not know she can sing -- You can't really change the mind of the rock/indie/oldies crowd who think all pop music other than the occasional anti-popstar are talentless trash.
