Do you think Aaliyah would have been majorly successful in the years to come if it hadn't been for her death?

I mean, I don't see a reason why she wouldn't have smashed, especially from 2004-2007 (With Missy's and Timbaland's help). What are your thoughts?

No, the only reason her last album saw success was because of her death. Before that time it was performing poorly. She was a great talent but her legacy in death is far greater than her being alive.

Despite the Lead Single not going Top 60, she did almost 200k first week, and was certified Gold right before she died, despite being out barely a month.

So UNFAIR. Literally when she died, Urban music TOOK OVER. 2002-2004 was all URBAN. No reason she would've flopped. Even her single after death, "Miss You" reached #3 on Hot 100, the only reason it didn't reach #1 was because it was blocked by the 2 biggest songs of the year.

+ she even had huge movies to lean back on. Was suppose to do Sparkle (w/ Whitney), Matrix 2/3, and Honey.

+ she would've KEPT going in 2005-2008 when Timbaland made EVERY song #1, and she had even bigger movies by then.

R.I.P to her, I used to love her as a child.

And honestly who knows. She was just getting started with movies and hitting it big with the music scene when she departed. But at the same time a lot of people exagerrate her sucesses beacuse of her death.

I think she'd be successful but she wouldnt have been a super mega type Britney star . If she would have been able to thoroughly live out her Aaliyah era , she would have def been up THERE . She was already so next level tbh, her style, her sexiness, her everything was the whole package so yes and she was original and creative

She would've been successful for a while, but I doubt she would've survived the end of the Urban trend like Beyoncé did for example.

There's no way to know though.

Yes, she would have been HUGE! Her sound was way ahead of its time. She would have fit right in.

Her label sucked and they never promoted her overseas or to pop radio. When 'Try Again' pretty much slayed everyone effortlessly, the doors automatically opened for her and she could have taken over if she hadn't passed away.

100% yes and anybody who really wants to deny how talented and gorgeous she was with her young precious ass self having the greatest styles, fashion, choreography, songs and then she had to get in the movie game too? She had big wigs like Joel Silver going to BAT for her, starring her in major roles (Romeo Must Die) and scooping her up for a huge franchise like The Matrix. She had EVERYTHING and to compliment that she had the best of the best intrigued, she was at the cusp of superstardom
