I agree with average being average however when most teenagers or twitter users discuss average looking people they make it seem as if they are in fact ugly when 99% of the worlds population is pretty much average looking. Why is that so? Do we have a higher standard on beauty today because of instagram models etc?
What is objectively average could be ugly to those whose standards are just too damn high because of the oversaturation of beautiful people in media. (Which is understandable because who wouldn't prefer looking at beautiful people rather than average looking ones, but still.)

No, average is above ugly, that's why it's average. Like somebody else said though standards have gotten so high these days that anything less then a perfect 10 is considered not good enough
If we're talking mean beauty, I would say that average is average. However, when it comes to median beauty, I would say average is ugly. This is due to having a small number of very good-looking people and a large number of uglies.
Beauty has to be subjective.
I've been told I'm okay, cute, ugly and even SEXY (like some people have legit praised me ).
So yeah, definitely subjective.
I do think some people are just average and most can agree on their basicness.
