Andrew Magbee worked for every cent of his education at Oklahoma's Southwestern Christian University, and he wanted the school to know it, making his final payment of $974 in 500 pounds of pennies. "I collected aluminum cans and I turned them in for scrap metal, I started a little sandwich shop, I mowed lawns, I painted houses." The symbolic delivery was a milestone for Magbee that also sent a message: "Pennies add up. Being frugal counts." He says he wants the moment to encourage high schoolers to think through their education -- and how they'll pay for it.
