Do you feel as if nowadays people overuse words such as 'bullying' or 'racism' or words similar to this? I personally think sometimes they do. Don't get me wrong, these issues are very important and serious and they still need to be addressed in society today, but I think people just throw them about without thinking. I feel as if this takes part of the severity of the words away. If people keep using them in circumstances that are not appropriate then they won't be taken as seriously and people who genuinely do need help won't get it. It annoys me to be honest. Thoughts?

yes, our western society has become oversensitive. In the third world these words are not overused but underused

I agree. I think we should turn more of our focus in regards to racism/bullying towards the developing world. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should forget it altogether here, but I think we can focus more on other things.

Sometimes, but you never know how someones else sees it. Something that might be considered racist or bullying to you may differ from how someone else views it.

I wasn't referring to sexism, homophobia, xenophobia because the OP was talking about "racism" and "bullying." Furthermore, as with racism, people are not oppressed in the West because everyone is equal there. Whites, blacks, Hispanics, Arabs, Asians, all have the same rights, so they're not being oppressed.
