The "Big Time Rush" front man and "Dancing with the Stars" contestant took time from his busy schedule to answer one lucky fan's prom proposal.
A few weeks ago, Hannah, a lovely fan from Ohio, asked James to her prom. He couldn’t make it, so instead he made another dream come true. We gave him a call to get you all the exclusive details, but here’s how the story starts—Hannah's touching prom proposal:
To make it up to her, James flew Hannah and her family out to L.A., took them to Disneyland, and gave them VIP tickets to see him perform live on “Dancing with the Stars.” On Friday, Hannah’s school played this video to let her know:
Here’s the inside scoop from James.
WhoSay: How did you hear about the proposal?
James Maslow: I had seen the proposal on Twitter; it started out with a couple of fans and then a lot of fans—I felt bad because I did not know what to do, since I knew I couldn’t make it, but then I came up with this and hopefully it’s even better.
WhoSay: Did you go to your own prom?
James: I did. I was lucky enough to go all four years; I was invited as a freshman and sophomore and then got to go as an upperclassman. I had a great time at all of them.
WhoSay: What’s your favorite thing to do at Disneyland?
James: Space Mountain, and we definitely went on that.
WhoSay: What was Hannah’s?
James: She did not like tower of terror. She was a great sport about it, but I don’t think it was her jam. I think either Space Mountain or the Matador were her favorites—maybe Space Mountain might be her favorite since I told her it’s mine.
WhoSay: What are you going to remember most about this experience?
James: Hannah was so composed for almost all of our time together, and I am so impressed with how mature and thoughtful she is. Yesterday when we were dancing to “Amazing,” I started singing along to the chorus to her. She started really giggling. Seeing her let loose and giggle and laugh and dance made all so full of joy of it so worthwhile.
WhoSay: How does it feel to get to give back in such a nice way?
James: It was so cool to be able to fly her out here. Spending as much time with her as I can while she’s out here has been great. The majority of the time was without cameras, but some of it might be on the show tonight. It’s rare that you have that chance to change someone’s life, and I’m thrilled that I’m in a position to be able to do so.
WhoSay: Anything else you want to add?
James: Shout out to lil’ sister Lily, who is so strong and they are lucky to have her in that family. What a sweet girl and lovely family to get to spend this time together.
The publicity of it all is a bit cringey, but at the end of the day that girl would have been happy (I know I would have!) so that's what counts. Good job.
