There don't have to be huge traumatic experiences, simply the way you think about yourself influences your actions which influnces other ppls reactions towards you (and that again influence you and your actions) and voila there are two entirely different worlds of experiences of ppl with the same DNA. Somethimes little things result in entirely different developmental scenarios which lead to enirely different sexual orientations.

I sort of compare it to obesity. You can be born with genes that predispose you to obesity, but you only become obese if your environment permits it (ie you eat a lot).

This proves it, doesn't it? Two people with identical genes; one gay and one straight. Neither were born gay or straight (sexuality, SURELY, cannot be defined at birth?!). Both were born with a predisposition to homosexuality, but slight differences in environment resulted in differences in sexuality.

I think it's society and environmental causes, however I think that once you're going through puberty it's fixed.
