It was scary in the 80s I think. I watched it for the .first time 3 years ago and it didn't scare me one bit

Not even close, but it's probably the most iconic horror movie ever and maybe back than yes, it was quite disturbing and scary especially when a young daughter tells her mother to eat her p****

In the 70s and 80s definitely but when modern day teenagers watch it they aren't nearly as scared as the teenagers who watched it when it first came out. We've seen much worse.

People used to be religious which made it scarier

So now it's a bit silly

Not really but it is one of the most shocking films. The way it deals with religion and using a young child to act out such explicit scenes. I dont think you could even get away with that now but this was 40 years back.

Its hugely influential.

Recently I watched one of those youtube videos where they re-visit the scenes in the film. Like those steps.
