Avril's music was so amazing during her peak. LG & UMS are still two of my favorite albums.

I also love Goodbye Lullaby though. That album is a nice addition to her discography.

Breakaway (the song) was written by Avril, that's good. She should do ballads more.

edit: Oh I got it. It doesn't matter, none of her singles charted that well outside the US.

Katy will matter more than Avril when it is all said and done. Avril is responsible for making people wear ratty multicolored extensions in their hair, and that's it. Katy is known as ONE of the leading pop girls of her time. Avril was an afterthought even back in her peak. There was Christina, P!nk, and even Belly.

Lol nobody even gave a second look to Pink till now. I mean, even now it's questionable but back then she wasn't even Top 5.

Avril was just as big as Britney and Christina in 2002-2004. She was the anti.

It's not just about the numbers. In 2014 if you say "Avril Lavigne" what will people think of? It's that first mental image that an artist's name conjures that says everything about their importance/legacy.
