Die Young was ahead of Diamonds for a while actually, it was only because of Diamonds' urban support (even though it's not even an urban song) that it topped the charts before Die Young did. Even then, it was still approaching the #1 spot, and the school shooting happened. Even still it peaked at #2, that's hardly "being crushed".
