A voice of a generation doesnt need to speak for every person in a generation. You dont get it, right?
Obviously I knew right away what this thread is about, hun, dont play that game with me. Thats why I used the word "context". But it doesnt change anything about the fact that some people here are clearly not aware of the original meaning and thus much bigger importance and cultural significance this phrase holds and the confusion it can cause. Thats why people are pointing it out and some people dont feel its right to use it in this context at all considering the circumstances, including me. Clear?
How can it be important at all if there is no such thing? Trust me, on average, people are more passionate about the way we're using the word in this thread.

If by 'people' you understand kids, then yes, you are right.
Bro that growl you speak of takes years of experience to emulate. That growl makes her above any other. As you could see with songs like Smash Into You, Heaven etc, she could make her voice smooth if she wants to.
And never ever mention Pink, Demi Lovato and Lady Gaga (Are you serious?) as greater vocal athletes than Bey. The Beyhive has been kind in letting the Clarkson stans think Kelly can hold a torch to Bey and this is what we get for kindness? Are you serious? Gaga Poke her face Gaga?
nnnn MESS! I agree with everything you said about Bey, She is in a league of her own, vocally and performance wise.
BUT you will not downplay Gaga's vocal prowess. There are more than a 100 videos I can bring out that showcase her flawless vocals, while playing an instrument.
Here are some of the proofs of her absolute slayage with the use of her VOCALS!
P.S. People like to downplay her vocals & talent by talking about her costumes, but underneath it all, there is a incredibly talented girl. Slowly but surely the world is beginning to see it.

I really didn't mean to downplay her, I got caught off guard with the comparison. Gaga really has improved the fastest vocally and grown into this beautiful singer but at the moment, she's just a singer with a great voice. I don't think she has control or would understand half the things in that Beyonce video if you know what I mean? It's not necessarily a bad thing as the GP doesn't care for all those. They just want to hear a nice song.
I for one think Beyonce stopped caring about GP and just wanted to showcase her vocal growth as she went, else she'd never release a song like 1+1. That grunt in "I don't care much about guns" sounds so dated and makes her come off as a has been because it was a technique that you only heard 20/30 years ago or during the time of Etta James etc. The GP would hear that today and say Beyonce is screaming but true vocal scholars know and applaud that.
Jesus Christ, ATRL needs to cool it with the Beyoncé coverage already. I love her and I think she's amazingly talented, but to call her the voice of our generation when we have greats like Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Adele, and even Lady Gaga who are more vocally capable than her is just absurd. She's an amazing vocalist, no doubt about it, and definitely one of the best of our generation. But there are so many better ones. A YouTube video proves absolutely nothing to me. You're going to need more receipts than that to convince me she's the vocalist of our generation.
That's right. We all know who actually is given that title in the public
christina? serious question, do we know why? i find it really funny when no accompanying legit explanation was ever given when it comes to christina & this title & i doubt the public acknowledge her as the voice of our generation.
i'm not a bey fan but i admit, she's indeed one of the best vocalists we have now.
