I think "cruelty" is a bit of a strong word for Katy's appropriation. It's mostly just tacky the way she does everything, simplifying everything so it's completely blunt and obvious.

I don't think most of the 2014 pop girls have though? and Gaga didn't produce Venus all by herself, she's just taking the credit all by herself. Directing someone around saying "I like this, I don't like that, what if we added this" is NOT producing.
I don't know if she's ever produced but she wrote a few songs alone on her 1st album.
