What makes me most angry about that performance is that she could've maybe actually done a respectful homage with Legendary Lovers. The song works perfectly for that kind of vibe. With Uncle, it just seemed very, very extra.

In my Contemporary Media class, my professor literally brought up Katy as an example of cruelty and insensitivity to other cultures via othering Same with Dark Horse and the unnecessary appropriation and dehumanizing of the Egyptian culture. Not that I couldn't connect the dots myself, but it was just super disheartening and I, as well as millions of others, really need Katy to stop doing things like that.
