Lana Del Rey was not commercially successful in the US until the Cedric Gervais remix of Summertime Sadness got significant airplay. I've seen a lot of fans around on ATRL that detest the remix, for example:

As if a remix being commercially successful somehow invalidates any quality that existed in the track prior.

A lot use the "Artistic" line as if Lana Del Rey remains some quintessential deep poet of our generation and a reinterpretation of her vision is a crime against the natural order. But that doesn't make sense, because by remixing songs nobody is getting rid of the original. Merely broadening the scope of the track and reaching wider audiences, in some cases improving on the track.

She followed this up by saying "someone remixed the **** out of it" https://vine.co/v/MJbtTTY5jE9 as if anyone expected her to play the remix instead of her version at her own concert.
(God forbid a pop song get remixed!)

Keep in mind the remix won a damn Grammy. People are clearly here for Cedric's reworking of Lana's songs, so why does that bother the little depressers so much? Nobody is forcing them to listen to it.

Help me understand sistren. Is it just because they want ha to be their "special secret" that 10 million people know about and resent the commercial success? Would she rather not be famous so she can keep lying about her brooding trailer park image without anyone finding out she stays at the Chateau Marmont? Or are they & their fave bitter that her work wasn't able to speak for itself on the charts?
