restaurants and occasionally taxis get my coins but im against the whole tipping thing


why do some professions get extra money on top of their wages whilst others make do with what they earn?

I meant that (at least where I am in the UK) there are generally service charges automatically applied to the price. The customer doesn't really have much of a choice.

In restaurants, yes, cuz I pay for the food and tip for the service

cabs? No, cuz its their job and they get paid enough/are expensive enough...
takeaway? No, they give me food that I pay for and have no extra work to do on me...

I always tip unless they don't deserve it.

My wage at my first waiting job was 3.95. Not even 4 bucks an hour. Tips were supposed to make up for that. It's not "extra".

I always feel bad for waiters tbh. Especially the older ones. Life's expensive and a 2 dollar tip from a table of two and a 30 dollar bill is atrocious.

Normally in restaurants, bars etc. - always. But takeaways ? I mostly order takeaways in fast food chains and I dont really tip there.

As a server I can tell you how rude and insulting it is to not tip or leave a very poor tip. We're paid wages under minimum wage and don't earn enough on pay cheques to have a liveable income. We're expected to get tips which is why our wages are so low and when an ignorant customer comes in and gives you $5 on a $100 bill it's frustrating.

Servers/waiters only make 2 dollars an hour! So yes you should tip and id be embarrassed if I didn't. That's rude and tacky as hell.

But if you're ordering to go you don't have to tip they usually make at least 8 dollars an hour. So they're fine.

Exactly!!!!! People expect us minorities not to tip!!!!! I love how servers attitudes change when they see your tip. When you sit down they're like... but when you tip, all of a sudden you're their best friend.
