How do YOU define a "radio friendly" single? I always thought radio friendly songs are bubble gum pop songs that are 3:30 minutes long but then again, a radio friendly song doesn't guarantee it's a smash so Idk

An upbeat catchy song that everyone can sing along to. Most of the time, generic.

A radio friendly song to me is generally a generic, basic song with simple but catchy lyrics. The musician behind the song more than likely didn't try to push the envelope lyrically, production-wise, etc. (and there is nothing wrong with that.)

So, like... I feel like Roar is a radio friendly song while Birthday isn't as radio friendly due to the sexual nature of the song.

Ballads can be radio friendly, but I feel like it is way harder to get a huge hit out of them no matter how safe they are (see Unconditionally.)
