Meh, success doesn't mean much to me as far as TV shows are concerned. Gen 2 characters and cast were solid but the storylines kinda lost their way to me, especially during their second series with Freddie's totally unrealistic death and all that stuff. To me the Gen 1 cast, characters and storylines were just on another level entirely (especially the cast, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in Hollywood and international TV which probably speaks volumes).
I dunno. It's totally just personal preference but I still wish they'd just left it with Gen 1
Gen 2 was worth having character wise, plot wise no.
Gen 3 was good because they didn't make every character super hot (Pandora was the only less attractive character in Gen 2 and even she got some) and they focused on problems, not who shags who which was a relief.
Gen 1 is on a whole other level, I agree. But the final episodes of Series 6 alone make Gen 3 worth it IMO.
