I stan for Madonna too but for me it's about her fearlessness and personality more than her success.

Of course I like pop music, but honestly ATRL is definitely more about success and sales more than the music. God forgive an artist if they release a really great song that doesn't do well, and they all have at some point. Like, and I'm sorry to bring Katy up cause it's so cliche, but I thought "Firework" was the least genuine inspirational song ever but it smashed and did well so according to ATRL - that makes it a "great" song, right? But then we have someone like Ke$ha who's a bit on the down and out but because Warrior supposedly flopped - so gems like "Last Goodbye" suddenly diminish in value?

Yes. I study pop music at college and frequently write pop music, and pop music is easily my most listened genre. Yes, a lot.

I couldn't care less about my faves' success tbh. All I care about is the music.

Pop is an EXTREMELY broad term. Essentially, pop is a catchy melody/hook/etc. that gets stuck with you. Artists ranging from Dirty Projectors to Katy Perry to Wet can be considered pop. So yes, I enjoy pop music. There is a lot of it to enjoy. And success doesn't affect my opinion. I appreciate artists who are lesser-known...they're like my little gems
