Madonna was very supportive of Gaga and praised her many times. It was Gaga who refused to admit the comparisons, went as far as calling it retarded, but critics saw right through it. M just used it for promo.

Well KD Lang is really talented, and btw it's not clear M said it, it sounds like KD said it and she might have agreed.
