I think they just felt crappy after the whole Looking Hot fiasco (video + the fact that LH didn't even chart on Bubbling Under

They finished 2012 off with a Gibson residency in CA, then at KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas they revealed they were back in the studio, so P&S was basically over at that point. They originally planned to tour summer 2013, but they changed their minds so they could finish the new album, but then Gwen + Tony's wife got pregnant.... and here we are now
A lot of "maybe" but considering they recorded at least half an album last year, they could theoretically be ready this year
