"I associate that name with, like, pop stars. It sounds tacky," she told Glamour in its May issue. "It's lazy and flippant. And there's something kind of violent about it. There's something insulting about it."

It's not the first time the actress has complained about her nickname. Back in 2012, Johansson told USA Today the moniker is "awful," telling the paper, "It's a laziness ... People can't actually say the whole name? It's just bizarre ... so Cate Blanchett is not, like, 'CaBla'? Why is that? Why do I have to get stuck with [ScarJo]?"

First of all, way to diss pop stars. That just sounds so haughty to me, like she’s appalled that someone would dare refer to a serious movie star with a “tacky” nickname, but using it for a popular singer (like J.Lo?) would make sense.
As for the “insulting” part, it’s not like we’re changing her name to Ugly Loser or Eww I Hate Her. It’s literally just taking some letters out of her name. Maybe I’m being insensitive, but I just get the impression that Scarlett thinks she’s too good or talented or classy or famous for a fun nickname.
