For me, it's fine. I find this cute, though.

We had one for my dog. Yes, especially since I buried him myself. You need that closure.

It's ridiculous. Our dog lived with us for almost my entire life and was a huge part of the family and we all were devastated when we lost her two years ago but we didn't have a funeral for her.

Also, we live with a field (full of coyotes) on one side and a busy road on the other, so in 15 years we have gone through like 20 cats. I don't get attached to them anymore... (And before anyone gets mad at me, I tell my parents every time "DON'T GET ANOTHER CAT" but they always do for my youngest brother )

Funerals are for the living, not the dead. It's just something to help console the grieving, so I don't see the need to belittle people who do hold funerals for their pets.

Yes, and I think that the people who don't think is a good idea have never loved an animal. A funeral makes you realize that your pet is actually dead (you'll need closure) and pay tribute to everything he's done to make you happy troughout his/her entire life-

In my case if my dog passed away I would want a funeral but I'd be the only one attending probably. My parents wouldn't laugh at me but they would say I'm exaggereting but that ain't new.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having funerals for pets; especially since they can be a huge part of the family and have strong bonds with the family.
