artpop rode off of whats left of her fan base. It's not a flop on paper (a lukewarm era at best) but looking at the bigger picture, she has no digital power (guy is not top 500, applause and dwuw sold modestly at best), no streaming power (applause its views
), no starpower (her performances don't help anymore, nor do her videos), no album selling power (Artpop won't see platinum), lack of global presence (the era was a complete non-event in many territories). It's only down from here, unless she undergoes a complete re-invention. But is she non-hardheaded enough to do that
Baring Adele there still hasn't been an era so big thus far as a whole since 2011.
