I see that a lot of those Radio Stations are playing the song almost 100 times. Hell, my radio station here (KDWB) has 96 spins for Leavin' this week. And all together he's #2.
I think that Top 100 includes other stuff with it (Like downloads, ringtones, etc.) Not just radio spins =\

No it is because there is different formats on the radio, you're only looking at POP and Mainstream which are practically the same, you have all the other formats like Urban, AC, HAC, Alternative ect.. basically look at the Hot 100 Airplay on the BB website and the #1 on that is the most played song in the country.

That makes sense. But I still am fishy on the Top 100. On the bottom it says: Songs in the Yellow have the greatest airplay and "SALES" gained from last update.
What does Sales have to do with airplay? Makes me wonder if it's based on Airplay 100% or not. It's probably 90% airplay and 10% other stuff...
Let me check it again...maybe I read it wrong...
*EDIT*
It says this at the bottom in black font plain as day.

"Records with the greatest airplay and sales gains this week have yellow backgrounds for current position."

So, no. This can't be 100% based on airplay UNLESS they just "highlighted" the songs that did increase in sales, but didn't "count" it in the chart???? I really don't know....lol. Help me out here...

AH HA!
I found it. I proved you guys wrong:
Quote:
MIXING DATA
Most of the charts in Billboard are either sales charts or radio charts. The only exceptions in which we try to mingle sales numbers with radio data are three of our signature charts: The Billboard Hot 100, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and the Billboard Pop 100.
We use both pools of data because while the consumer's decision to purchase is a significant vote of popularity, singles have a job that extends beyond being a sales vehicle: to capture radio play and, hopefully, stimulate album sales. Beyond that, in today's competitive market, radio programmers do not make music decisions lightly, but rather use extensive research to play songs their audiences want to hear.
These three hybrid charts each use formulas to mix Nielsen SoundScan sales with BDS audience. The Hot 100 and the Pop 100 each utilize the a la carte sale of downloaded tracks with sales of the few retail-available singles that are still shipped to stores. The former chart also factors in streaming audio and video data (both on demand and passive) from AOL and Yahoo. The Hot 100 utilizes audience from all popular formats monitored by BDS -- from top 40 and hip-hop to country, Latin and rock -- while the Pop 100 confines its radio panel to mainstream top 40 stations.
The Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart meshes audience data from R&B and hip-hop stations with sales from the core R&B/hip-hop panel.

So this isn't just Airplay. It's including sales too. And Leavin' is #15 on iTunes right now. But he's #2 on Pop and Mainstream. #37 on Rythmtic (but decreasing now). So of course he is #15 on Hot 100. Duh. I don't think he's broken 1 million in iTunes sales yet. Probably really damn close now though.
So what is the ratio then? For Hot 100? 50 Airplay? 50 Sales? Or is the airplay more counted over sales???

I think you're making it harder for yourself, what is there that you don't understand
The Hot 100 is based on SALES and AIRPLAY, songs which have gained the most AIRPLAY and SALES since the last update are highlighted with a yellow background. The Hot 100 AIRPLAY is the AIRPLAY chart the Hot 100 uses, as is the POP 100 AIRPLAY is the AIRPLAY chart the POP 100 uses.
WTH? What have you proved us wrong about lmaoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

My point is, I made this thread to show he's going to #1 on the Pop and Mainstream charts, then Lee and Adrian came in here and said he's NOT #1 and he's really #15 and that the Hot 100 is what really counts FOR AIRPLAY and not the Pop and Mainstream ones.
I'm trying to show you that the Pop and Mainstream are 100% airplay across America. So he is #1 across the United States. The Hot 100 is a mixture of sales and airplay so it's not reflectingn the radio play to the fullest. Get it now???

No?
I just proved to you guys that the Hot 100 isn't based on 100% airplay vs. what I posted which is 100% airplay.
He is #1 in AIRPLAY (Pop and Mainstream), BUT NOT WITH SALES WHICH EXPLAINS WHY HE'S #15 ON THE HOT 100????
Now am I a lost cause? It says so with the thing I just posted. They include sales with the airplay in the Hot 100. They don't lie

The Hot 100 Airplay chart is a weekly chart that ranks the 100 songs with the most airplay points (frequently referred to as audience impressions, which is a calculation of the number of times a song is played and the audience size of the station playing the tune). A song can pick up an airplay point every time it is selected to be played on specific radio stations that Billboard monitors. Radio stations across the board are used from Top 40 Mainstream (plays wide variety of music that is generally the most popular songs of the time) to more genre specific radio stations such as urban radio.
Per Billboard (as of October 2005):
"988 stations, comprised of top 40, adult contemporary, R&B/hip-hop, country, rock, gospel, Latin and Christian formats, are electronically monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This data is used to compile The Billboard Hot 100."

Jesse will have the number one song in the Mainstream format only. Get it? It's not really that confusing.

My point exactly. That's what I was going at. But Lee said the opposite. Geez...
You forgot to mention Pop Reeces . Even though it's the same as Mainstream pretty much.
*EDIT*
Actually I think what Lee and Adrian was stating is what more important in the long run is the Hot 100. Ok. Sorry. But this thread was aiming more towards him reaching #1 Mainstream and Pop across America. I guess what Lee meant was that Hot 100 is more important overall. The thing that sucks is that not all radio formats are going to play Leavin'. He peaked at 37 on the Rhythmic Now he's losing spins on that one. Lollipop is playing (for instance) on Pop, Mainstream, Rap, R&B, Rhythmic. And to top it off he's getting tons of sales on iTunes and among other things.
I think I get it now, but I was aiming for Mainstream and Pop. He's #1 in Airplay on those two across America.
But overall with everything combined including sales, he's #15.

You're deluded, Jesse is only going to #1 on the POP/Mainstream charts and that means bugger all for being #1 across the country, POP/Mainstream is practically only one format, it's the Hot 100 Airplay that matters and he hasn't even got the slightest chance of going to #1 on that, even Leona didn't get to #1 on that
Pop/Mainstream are not 100% airplay across American LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O
What do you think Urban/Alternative/HAC/AC/Country are just made up formats which mean bugger all LOL?

He doesn't have the most played song in the US, Lil' Wayne does. Hot 100 Airplay counts different formats.
