They are not doing a damn movie. The only person who has mentioned that is the delusional George R.R. Martin who wants to believe that the show won't finish the series before he finishes the books.

With a confirmed max of 7 seasons it'll be hard to fit everything into it, I mean, they are spending 2 seasons on book 3 alone... I thought 9 or 10 seasons would be the minimum, but now a movie does seem possible

Books 4 and 5 are non-eventful compared to the first ones and they will already include some material from them in this season. Also they said that 7 seasons are their ultimate goal

The movie won't happen. George is scared and he should be, he needs to get his **** together

He wants to take a year off like Sopranos, bitch HBO isn't going to wait for your ass. They know how it ends. If you don't finish the two books by the time the series catch on you're DONE. He will loose millions of dollars in books

You honestly think George will allow the show to overtake the books? This is his baby, his masterpiece, his crowning achievement. He's not gonna just sit back and let HBO do whatever they want with it.

And they know the "general plot points of the end," nothing more.

George and the showrunners obviously have a fantastic working relationship, they'll work this out.

Lol if HBO finishes the show before George finishes the books, I bet he'd give it an entirely different ending out of spite.

I think that's more likely than George allowing the show to overtake the books.

But I don't think either will happen. I think WOW will come out sometime around S5 next spring, leaving George to release DOS at the same time as the premier of the last season.

Can you imagine? Book 7 being released along with the final season's premier? The media hype / promo / everything would be massive. There's never been anything like that before, combining two mediums of story like that at the same time.
