True, but the study (or at least how the study was presented in this thread) suggests that the presence of foreskin alone is enough to facilitate the spread of HIV/AIDS, when in reality it is much more likely that it is a result of these people in developing countries not having the resources to properly take care of their bodies.

Circumcision here is simply treating a symptom, not the disease. A viable short-term stalling mechanism, but definitely not a long-term game plan.

60% is a great number but only it is not enough.

And circumcision actually prevents disease. It's like vaccines. But i hope more effective methods will be usable in this areas soon.

Here's an idea: don't be a nasty ass and you won't get HIV.

But we already have condoms to protect against sexually transmitted diseases, and even then the likelihood is only decreased slightly. it's not like a vaccination at all, if you have unprotected sex you're still likely to pick up at STD regardless of whether you're circumcised or not. We should be providing condoms to people not chopping parts of their dicks off

This is why I hate articles like this because it encourages people to go out and **** people without condoms because they think they have hardly any chance of getting it when that isn't the case at all.

It might be helpful but in the end the best prevention is to teach people to be careful and not sleep around and if they do at least use condoms!
