I think we're forcing this "statement" upon her, really. I don't think she's ashamed she went pop, she's just tired of being confronted for it and it's a conversation she's had so many times over something that shouldn't be a big deal. If you think she's in these planning sessions like, "Yeah that'll show 'em!" then you haven't been paying enough attention. She's just making music, same as always— sure it sounds different, but that's because it's a new project. How many times does she need to say she's happy and content for you to believe it?
