I'm in an area where literally everyone will talk to you without knowing you, so I don't really have to. But if I was in your situation...I just keep things simple I guess. That, and I'm really quiet and secretive so people's curiosity will get the best of them and force them to make the first move.
i used to make new friends so easy and actually look forward to it but lately ive lost my touch
