in a capitalistic society that constantly tells people (especially young girls and women) that we are ugly and need to buy certain products to look attractive, i dont think its bad for anyone to take pride in how they look

Yeah, that's why I hate Instagram and other networks that just promote showing off. It's getting to the point that it's hindering human capability to interact with each other at social settings because everyone's too busy with their camera-phones. It's scary.

Taking pictures of yourself and sharing it is fine, and isn't anything new. But the way how quickly accessible it is to do so is the problem.

I think taking care of yourself is important. Ain't no one want to sit next to someone smelling like unwashed butt.

But we're kind of too focused on appearance or at least changing the person you truly are. I think we should focus on being clean and accepting of our natural flaws.

There is taking pics where you think you look good and simply taking pics of yourself seeking validation from others on social networking sites. Tumblr being one of them.

I saw a car crash in London the other week and instead of people helping out, all they did was take pictures

People are caring way too much about these things. Whilst social networking is fun it's really making people narcissistic.

I suppose so. But you can't really hate others for liking themselves and wanting to share their self confidence with the world. I for one enjoy this technological culture we live in, because we can take a look into others lives and that's something that interests me. However, when your self-importance relies on you putting others down to feel better, then it becomes a problem.

I think if every picture on your Instagram is a selfie, you might be a biT vain or narcissistic.

That's just me, though. Especially if it's like, solo shots, daily. "Gerl, you look SO different~"

Narcissism is actually a great thing. It promotes self-love, self-esteem, and makes for happier individuals. Nothing wrong with some narcissism
