I'm sure it's been discussed on here extensively, but I'm new here so I'm saying it anyway.
Pink is crazy popular here in Australia. Like I'm pretty sure she's the best-selling artist of all time here. Bigger than The Beatles, Madonna, MJ, Elvis, Prince, U2, Mariah Carey, etc.
She is H U G E.
I get it from a talent-appreciation perspective. Her vocals are amazing and she's an amazing performer, everyone knows that. But I've never completely understood the fascination. You'd kind of expect there to be a certain amount of promo and marketing to go into the level of success she's received in Australia. And she's done it so effortlessly. Singles, music videos and an occasional tour, and she's the biggest artist this country has ever seen.

TBH I think that it all came naturally ya know? Like i don't think she was FORCED down people's throats and they got used to her, i think she took the time to tour there, people went, saw her live, and then it was more like WORD OF MOUTH, like when you buy a good product from somewhere, and you tell your friends about it?

Yeah, word of mouth is the most effective means of advertising. Also, Aussie girls aren't afraid of being a bit tomboyish. Don't get me wrong, we still have heaps of "girly girls" but a lot of girls in Australia love watching rugby, drinking beer, have male friends, would rock a short haircut and love riding quad-bikes and dirt bikes.
I suppose Pink's overwhelming and disproportionate-to-the-rest-of-the-world success also comes from the fact that a lot of Australian girls relate to her. Men too. Even grandparents in Australia love Pink. It's weird. Most elderly people don't care about pop/current music but my parents and Aunties and Uncles all love her.
Weird.

She just clicked with the Australian audience. She does the same amount of promo as in Europe, maybe the tour gets more with the banners and ads, but I believe she would sell the same without them. She can't do wrong there, they so loyal to her.

Why is it weird? It's good that she speaks to a wide audience and totally understandable since people seem to appreciate her honesty and natural talent. And it's really similar here in Europe, families and elder couples are coming to see her. In Linz back in 2010 I met a couple around 60, they said they had not seen any concert for 8 years but they wanted to be there because P!nk puts on such great music and show.

Haha the funny part of my experience of the TTALT in Paris was that next to me there was a 40 something year old gay couple from AUSTRALIA
Like they were in Paris in April and i guess they had decided to see P!nk while they were here, and i think they were gonna go back to Australia and then buy tickets for there too, coz one of them was a huge fan and had been to all of her tours
But yeah, Australia... lol

Yeah, everyone here in Australia always drags artists and like to compare them to P!nk. "She will never be good as P!nk", "At least P!nk doesn't lip sync", etc etc.
Her tours definately hit it from word of the mouth, everyone flocks to see her. I know so many people who have went and seen her live. When you do see her live, there are a whole varitey of people, last year when I went I seen soccer mums, teenage girls, teenage boys, men, gays, samoen people (it surprised me that big tough samoen people who probs listen to hip hop were there right at the front in the mosh), and so on. Its so great to see.
