OKLAHOMA CITY – CM Punk added a new title to his rapidly growing resume Monday night on Raw. In addition to former ECW Champion and Mr. Money in the Bank, the Straightedge Superstar’s business card now reads “World Heavyweight Champion.”
A record 11,560 fans packed the Ford Center as CM Punk cashed in his Mr. Money in the Bank title opportunity and turned the tables on the World Heavyweight Champion, Edge.
It all started after Edge mocked new SmackDown announcer and Oklahoma's native son, Jim “J.R.” Ross, during his farewell address to Raw fans. Batista had heard enough and intruded on the events to teach the Rated-R Superstar a lesson. The Animal punished his longtime nemesis and left him lying wounded in the ring.
It was then that the Straightedge Superstar charged down the entrance ramp clutching the Money in the Bank briefcase. As a referee called for the bell to start the match, CM Punk made quick work of his opponent, leveling an already dazed Edge with a Go To Sleep.
It was difficult not to revel in the irony. After all, it was the Ultimate Opportunist who himself twice cashed in the Money in the Bank contract over the years against severely weakened opponents to win two World Championships.
CM Punk’s celebration, however, was cut short when JBL challenged him to put the title on the line. Already riding high, WWE’s newest champion euphorically accepted.
Before the match, JBL’s adversary, John Cena, made a plea to Punk and the capacity crowd to allow him to compete for the title, but the Lonestar Loudmouth brought in his own battalion of security to confront Cena and escort him from the building.
During the title match, JBL’s security detail surrounded the ring in hopes of intimidating Punk. Toward the end of the match, however, Cena was joined by Cryme Tyme and confronted the goons. As a melee ensued outside the ring, CM Punk nailed a Go To Sleep to retain his World Heavyweight Championship before joining Cena and Cryme Tyme in driving back JBL’s security detail.
While Punk and Cena joined forces on Monday night, it’s only a matter of time before “The Champ” hungers for a World Title to call his own.
This may be the greatest thing to happen in the WWE since Wrestlemania XX. The man who deserves the World Title more than anyone has now won it! Anyone else glad about this move?
This shows how long it has been since I watched the WWE since I have no idea who this guy even is.
My thoughts exactly. Although I don't want to be mean, but I can't believe WWE is still around.
I think I stopped watching after the Rock and Stone Cold match.
For the people who don't know who he is: CM Punk is probably one of if not the best wrestler that the WWE has and he's possibly the sole reason that the 3rd show was actually successful.
As for when this happened, I completely marked out when Punk won the title. I screamed so loud, I couldn't believe it
I don't really care for Punk as the champion, but of course Raw needed a champion, so it of course, had to go to Mr. Money In the Bank. I would prefer that on Raw, the championship being held by Randy Orton, but who knows when that will be again, as long as it's not John Cena, then I don't have a problem.
I watch WWE only sometimes,I watch TNA alot more these days but yeah I saw this moment, finally WWE did something interesting for once.Glad to see they're focusing on Punk,I was getting tired of seeing WWE always giving the belt to Cena or Triple H,though I don't mind his current title run since he hasn't had one for a long time.Edge and Triple H will probably start feuding for the WWE title on Smackdown.Punk should have a 3 to 4 month title reign. Also WWE should focus on giving Title runs to HBK,Jericho, and Jeff Hardy. Also Undertaker should have had a longer title reign.I thought it was so stupid how they stripped it from him.WWE needs to come up with good storylines,so far I liked what they did on Raw with Punk.

* TNA, I believe is a total rip off because the wrestling and acting together is really bad. I have watched several shows of it and I'm not impressed with it at all. I also love how they have to take wrestlers from other wrestling companies ala the WWE:
Christy Hemme, Ryhno, the Dudley Brothers, Kurt Angle, Booker T., Tyson Tomko, Christian, Gail Kim, Daivari, Kevin Nash, *Jeff Hardy*
* I think that they stripped the Undertaker of his title due to family matters or an injury because I know that last year when Edge cashed in his Money In the Bank and took the title from him, that that wasn't what was suppose to happen for another few months. So, to me, it's just to give the Undertaker time off for what ever reason.
* I do agree that they should give a good title run to Shawn Michales because it's been 5 and 1/2 years since his last title reign.
Yeah I know.WWE should have let HBK win the title at Wrestlemania 23 last year from Cena. Also the reason alot of former WWE wrestlers that are currently in TNA left was because I heard some of them didn't like the way Vince and WWE writers were doing with them, also TNA has a lighter traveling schedule so the wrestlers have more time to spend with their families.TNA definately though does have a way better womens division than WWE's,WWE's womens division is horrible, only one's that can wrestle are Mickie James,Beth Phoenix, and Victoria.I'm glad too that Samoa Joe is the TNA World Champion,he deserves the good run he's having so far but I think Booker T is going to beat him for it since the next pay-per-view is going to be in Booker T's hometown.TNA also has it's own wrestlers that are good such as Samoa Joe,AJ Styles,Sting,Abyss, and Robert Rhoode they didn't steal from WWE.Oh and also I heard Undertaker had an injury last year that's why they gave the belt to Edge, but I wonder what's going on with Taker again that they cut his title reign short for the 2nd year in a row.

*Well, yeah, I know that TNA gets WWE wrestlers due to circumstances from the WWE head honchos, but they need to find their own talent. And yes AJ Styles did wrestle for the WWE, way back when against the Hurricane:
*That is very true that the WWE Women's Division sucks now and the only ones who can wrestle are Mickie James and Beth Phoenix, which I'm surprised that the WWE didn't follow up on their feud before Phoenix's injury and then she returned and then they didn't follow up on the storyline. I think that Victoria use to be able to wrestle, but she can't now. I wish the greats like Trish Stratus, Lita, Molly Holly, Jazz, or Chyna would come back and tear the ring up.
*I hope that the Undertaker comes back soon, maybe the whole McMahon incident was suppose to lead to an Undertaker storyline, they have bad blood between each other.
Here it is.Essa Rios vs. Samoa Joe.This took place during the WWE vs. Alliance(WCW/ECW) War.Those were the good old days,I miss those days.So A.J. and Joe wrestled in WWE as well, they just didn't make it big.It was good that Samoa Joe,A.J.,and Christian Cage joined TNA.Their careers are really doing better in TNA.WWE would never blow them up huge.Though I would love to see Samoa Joe vs. a few current WWE stars, especially Undertaker,it would be hot if they vs. at Wrestlemania but it's a match that will never happen.

I'm pretty sure that this is pretty huge for a WWE wrestler (Christian):
WWF European Championship (1 time)
WWF Hardcore Championship (1 time)
WWF/E Intercontinental Championship (3 times)
WWF Light Heavyweight Championship (1 time)
WWF/E World Tag Team Championship (9 times) - with Edge (7), Lance Storm (1) and Chris Jericho (1)
Yeah Christian had a good career in WWE.What I meant is that WWE would never give Christian a World title run,I just see them keeping him in like only holding the I.C. Title,Tag Titles, & U.S. Title which I'm surprised they never gave him a run with.At least in TNA he's so far a 2 time World Champion,I'm glad they gave him main event status in TNA.I will admit I never saw him as a world title holder but once he jumped to TNA I saw him more as a world title holder.

Yeah, I see what you're saying now, but I think that if he were still around he may have held a big title, look at Santino holding the I.C. Title or Kofi Kingston, C.M. Punk with the World Heavyweight Title, or Candice Michelle with the Women's Title. It seems as if they're giving the underdogs a shot now.
There is a possibility Christian might have won a world title right now if he was still with WWE,who knows but I heard Christian didn't like where WWE was going with his career,at the time he was there not many underdogs were getting a chance at the title,WWE was busy focusing mostly on Randy Orton,Batista, and Cena's career's which worked out really well for them. Also Kurt Angle left on similar terms. He said in an interview awhile back that he and Vince McMahon were not seeing eye to eye backstage on his last few weeks with WWE and also Angle said he wanted to spend more time with his family.WWE has a tighter schedule since they travel more than TNA.
