What happened to this era being about growth and maturity? The moment Uncle flopped, she immediately reverted back to being cheesy and colorful to appease children.

If this was Katy's idea then she's not very creative. Katy isn't an artist, she is a postar. Her point is never to make people think "ew, horrible". Her goal is always to make people like what she does because that's what her career is based around. She is not someone who creates thing for people to think about.
