For those wondering what pronoun Norrie goes by, it's most likely they/them, and most likely not "it", which is more often than not viewed as a derogatory term. Or Norrie could prefer to simply just go by "Norrie". To say that Norrie is an "it" is very rude and ignorant.

But they/them is incorrect cause it's plural. Just saying a name is good and respectful, but sometimes you want to say the gender term and you can't. Let's be happy English allows you to be gender neutral.

In terms of grammar, yes, it is incorrect. But that's how many people prefer to be addressed, and so that's how they should be addressed. A person's identity is more important than grammar, and that's coming from someone who's a grammar freak.
