I don't like stanning for people who don't. It makes the songs seem fake.
People can relate to songs that they haven't written just as much as people can be moved by songs they hear. Not writing the songs you sing=/= you being fake.
2/3 of my main favourites do, yeah.
Of course I'd like to see my other favourite start writing more too but I'm not too fussed about it, music is music no matter if it comes from one or twelve people and they have other talents to compensate.
Madonna's written about 70% of her songs - the rest are covers ('Fever', 'American Pie'), songs/poems that she's re-invented á la Patti Smith ('Ray of Light', 'Justify My Love'), songs written by others that she's liked ('Like a Virgin', 'Papa Don't Preach') and songs she's asked other people to write for her ('Bedtime Story', 'Don't Tell Me').
Rihanna co-wrote at least 80% of unapologetic so you're wrong not sure about selena though.
That's fine and dandy but we really don't know how much she contributed, especially when there are sooo many other songwriters involved.
I honestly can't picture Rih sitting down and writing a whole song on her own, and then maybe handing it off to the other songwriters for tweaks. How I picture it is Rih gets the song in a near completed form and she changes minor lyrics as she records to suit her tastes.
Which is alright - at least she's not stealing writing credits just so she can say she writes all her songs.
Florence, OneRepublic, lana all obviously write with few co-writers.
In fact, every single one of my favorites either write everything themselves or at least with just a little help (excluded pink and katy, but that makes sense, since they're pop, but STILL I'm convinced they write the majority of their music/songs).

Dangerously In Love was one of her first professional song she wrote. JAYZ is a rapper; so obviously YES; so do Kanye Eminem. Prince ofc. Phil Collins the same. Diana Ross some of them. Bob Marley ofc. Ciara ofc.

I'm talking about how your fave can barely carry a tune. I'm sorry, but that's just my opinion. I replied to a user's question regarding basic singers who can barely sing their own songs.

Well she did co-write like 13 songs and the songs but I specifically mentioned if co-writing counted. If not then no she doesn't.
