This week Elton John was interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today Show, discussing his recent projects and the re-release of his legendary "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road". He discussed what keeps him going and what keeps inspiring him to make better music:
Quote:
Meanwhile, John continues to be as involved in his other relationship — making music — as ever.
"I love it as much now as I did," he said. "I don't like the fame part of it, and I don't like the technology part of it so much. But, the thrill of the music will never die for me ... when you hear somebody young, like Lorde, or someone like that, making a record like she did, and you think, 'You're 16,' I am flabbergasted. And it makes you want to write the best song in the world, because you just cannot believe that this music has come out of someone so young, and so brilliant."
Back in September Elton also mentioned Lorde, saying:
Quote:
You stop listening to new things. But my album’s sound reflects the fact that all the things I love at the moment are stripped down. Lorde had a big US hit with a song called Royals. It’s just her voice and a drum machine, and it’s beautiful in its simplicity.
It’s the kind of direction Gaga should be going in.
Get that praise from a legend, Ella, and stan for the masterpiece that is Pure Heroine, Elton!
