That is true, however when arguing against the term Latino, people argue that 'Latin' people are the ones who come from Europe (Portugal, France, Spain, Italy, parts of Switzerland, Moldova, and Romania). So technically she is a latina, though not from Latin America.

Also, I hate when people use "South America" to refer to Latin America. Mexico is in North America, and that is where part of Selena's ancestry comes from. Demi's ancestors were Hispanic New Mexicans I believe.

India has nothing to do with this and "dona" is actually the female form of the same word so that bold part is made up.

The modern slang word "don" was popularized by Hollywood after use of the world by the Sicilian mafia in the US. It's origin is from Latin word used for clergy or nobles, but the modern use isn't "Latin slang." It's of Italian-American origin popularized by the media.
