Tokyo is so lucky. U can find like 20 pokemonz there alone.. i think I know why..
There's a Pokemon centre sprite there. There are other ones near the Sydney Opera House, at the Large Hadron Collider, in New York and at the Googleplex Amphitheatre. I'm Europe and my starting place was at the LHC and I assumed that other continents would start in those other places. These tend to be hotspots for finding them, I found no end in Tokyo and in Sydney.

Im in Asia, my starting place was in Tokyo so yes, depends on the continent you are staying, you would go to different starting places.
