No sexuality should be promoted to children, they are just kids and they shouldn't be told that being a certain way makes you "normal" or that you need to be a certain way. But homosexual people and couples do need more representation in media so that people do see it as normal, especially kids who may be so that they don't feel like outcasts.

Sexual orientation is not something you can "promote". You can promote a charity, an album, a film, a brand of toilet paper, promotion is meant to convince you to buy or participate in something.

You can't buy into being gay, you can't decide to become gay or lesbian or bisexual. Featuring gay people in a film or a music video and holding hands in public isn't promoting anything, it's fair, accurate representation and simply living your life, respectively.

Also, material for children, from books, TV shows, films, etc is FILLED with heterosexual couples and story of romance and families. All of that is part of sexuality (heterosexual is a sexual orientation), yet no one seems to have an issue with it. Why would having a gay couple on a TV show aimed at kids be wrong then? Children would not be "confused", people vastly underestimate children and homosexuality is really not a difficult concept to grasp. Most kids' films, shows and books deal with adult topics in a simple way, not with things only children could relate to. Are children confused and scarred for life by Biblical allegories in Narnia? Are children confused and scarred for life by death in The Lion King? Are children confused and scarred for life by a plot about isolation and aging like in Toy Story 2? Of course they are not. And a film featuring gay characters would do nothing at all except foster a more accepting environment where gay people don't have to feel like they don't exist.

I don't like the word promote in this sense .!! I don't think it is wrong to show affection on front of your kids just like my parents they gave each other a quick peck and said I love you and held hands in front of us but they didn't overly do it or go any further

Because they are "normal" and we are not. We may all root for equality and what not but that's just how things are, sadly, people will say to you that they don't hate homosexuals but at the same time they don't want them near their children. It is sad but unfortunately a reality as well.
