I agree with the original post. I was actually thinking about it earlier today how much of a let down this year has been in music. When I heard that Mariah Carey and Usher were both releasing songs in the spring, I was excited and expected those two to battle for the most played song in the country. But their two songs, Touch My Body and Love In This Club, were both a let down after their HUGE previous albums.
But the artist that uses the same song over and over again is Nickelback. They are in the Hall of Fame of recycling old songs. I'm pretty sure that when they were creating "Someday", they couldn't think of a good riff so they said "Hey, let's just do what we did for How You Remind Me!" All they are is musical ad libs.
I have no idea how [Nickelback] are still so successful.
Easy to answer really. Imagine you are a parent or grandparent looking for a gift to give you son/grandson so you walk into your local CD store and you ask an employee the following question: "What is a good CD to pick up for my son who I know likes rock music?" The employee who either doesn't know very much or just wants to play a cruel joke says "I'm sure he would love this CD". And well you know what that CD is...
