And to the "straight pride" argument, what struggles have you faced as a straight person? What adversity have you had to overcome? Celebrating the fact that you're straight would be belittling the struggles of the LGBT community and would be just downright offensive.

I feel like people don't get it. The reason things like gay pride, black pride, Mexican-American pride, etc, etc. exist is because these are groups of people who had to fight for their own rights and struggle in the face of adversity. That's why it's important to be proud of it.
You don't have to wear a rainbow flag or whatever if you don't want. It may not be a big deal to you, but for some it is. And there's no shame in that. There shouldn't be.
The reason there's no straight pride, or eye color pride, or foot pride, or any of those other meaningless things is because those aren't traits that were discriminated against and marginalized.
