Shakira said: 'I like what's going on because I feel closer to the fans and the people who appreciate the music. It's the democratisation of music in a way. And music is a gift. That's what it should be, a gift.'
With millions of dollars in the bank from record sales, Shakira can afford to be relaxed about her income.
But I also understand it's not ideal for the record industry, and a lot of young artists who won't make any music off their album sales, but at least they can tour.'
'You'll find an audience, and you may not make like millions of dollars but you'll make enough to have a house and a family and a car. I don't know though, maybe the clock is ticking.'
Shakira doesn't care about sales, she makes music for her fans and for music lovers and she knows that if she wants to make money, she'll go on tour and her last two worldwide tours grossed more than $100 million. The international global superstar remains unbothered.
Eventually these artists will have to learn that touring is really the only way to A) validate your "popularity" and B) make real money. In a decade people won't be buying albums or even singles. They'll be buying subscriptions to radio services.
YAS. If the RIAA comes knocking on my door, I can use ha quote for my defense
The point is, Shakira loves music and she makes for people to enjoy her music. She doesn't care about charts and sales. She makes her money with endorsements and when she goes on tour. She spends her money opening schools in Colombia, South Africa and Haiti. She's not the queen for no reason, she truly is a saint!
Excellent statement! She's right though! Music is a gift that the world should have. I'm not saying all music should be free but it definitely should be cheaper than it is. I can't wait for her upcoming tour too btw!
Im done with her LMAO. thousands of independent artists struggle to have their music out there and get a big break, and she's like sureeeee music is gift why not!!!!!! HERE! she remains unbothered though THAT SAYS ALOT ABOUT THE TYPE OF PERSON SHE IS.
