Being an ASL student, I must educate people who don't know..

Deaf people can understand words, read lips, and even speak without hearing a sound.
One method of deaf communication is the oral method in which the deaf person doesn't use sign language. Instead, they reads lips and speak back. It's their way of fitting into the hearing community. Some can even pass as hearing people since they can speak/read lips so well!
Hope I edumacated y'all!
