well i never expected this from him, cause i knew that he was at work. he would text me in the afternoon and we would have small talk, then when he got home at night he would call me. and i was OKAY with that.. it was better than nothing

but in a perfect relationship i would prefer to at least talk on the phone with a guy for a while every night.

The younger you are, it is more unlikely it will work out. 5 years is not a big gap though, 10 years is, especially when you are still a teenager. When you have your career and a healthy surrounding, things can work out. It really depends on where you both are in life and how many things you have in common, how much you can rely on the other.
