Do you use Fanfiction.net? You can organize your search by number of reviews/favorites and it automatically gives you the best the site has to offer. I find well written stories

Sometimes. 95% of it is horrible trash. That 5% is sometimes worth the trouble tho

Yesss I've been writing fanfic since I was little tot. I love it because you don't have to spend ages developing your characters and universe, they are already there, so you can just jump straight into the plot and tell the story you wanna tell

I always bashed it, but there's some really great stuff out there. Especially AU's and stuff, many extremely talented writers who use the platform to share their writing with a wide audience (who have some similar interests) they couldn't reach otherwise.

and like??? if you want to write a story using characters and settings in a certain established franchise then why shouldn't you write about it? it's not disrespectful, you're taking something and you're expanding on it or doing something creative with it. and it's not at all cannon or official so what's the problem?

i know for a fact that i started my fanfic in order to get me writing. i'm already writing a book because the fan fiction is making me active and making me really think things through.
