It doesn't look like HC will reach 1 million units in sales, but it could possibly reach it in shipments. Would it go Platinum if it gets to 700,000? 800,000? I just want it to go Platinum, and I also want Give It 2 Me or BGO to stabilize the sales. It isn't looking good for Madge right now.

It depends on the artist and the demand for the artist.. and also their record label. Some record labels don't stay up to date with what certification albums should get. Because Madonna is a very well known artist, who has had a very successful career, it is likely that her record label will give her a platinum certification regardless of if she actually sells 1 million copies or not. She probably could sell 700,000 copies and still have 300,000 more copies shipped to get a platinum certification, especially this album, which I feel was supposed to be a bigger selling album than 2006s "Confessions of a Dance Floor." Whereas a no name artist would probably have to sell close to a million copies before getting an actual certification. I personally think she will sell 1 million + copies because even if Give It 2 Me doesn't do anything for the album, she's big enough that her label will probably give her a 3rd, maybe even 4th single. It's not like she's from Hollywood Records where one or two singles is the norm (unless your Jonas Brothers). She still has a lot of single potential including "Beat Goes On" "Heartbeat" "Miles Away" and "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You." She should stay away from "Candy Shop" (her pick for the first single, it will do NOTHING for sells not even with a good video - plus she's getting old, I don't want to see a sexed up video for that... just my opinion) and "Dance 2 Nite" (good song but she already released a JT collab song).
But yeah, she should be able to sell 1 million copies, especially if her album can stay on/come back on the charts during the Holiday season

It was kinda 'all of a sudden'. Her sales were dropping, but in a low (steady) way.

Yeah, but sales were consistent without any promotion BEFORE this, even though it was dropping. I know it's a long shot, but GI2M better help for HC stay consistent. Also, it would help if Madge promoted just one more time here in the States before she goes on tour. Maybe Oprah, or better yet, perform GI2M on SYTYCD. That would really help the album out.

HC just needs to stay Top 50 until the 3rd single is released. If GI2M can do that, guess the album will be ok.

At the rate it's dropping, it may be out of the Top 50 by the end of July, or even earlier. Still, maybe the third single can revive it when it's released in August or September.

As far as next week goes, Coldplay will probably do like over 6o0k and knock Wayne off the top.
It's gonna be like....
01. Coldplay (+600k)
02. Lil Wayne (around 450k)
03. Katy Perry (around 150k)
04. Camp Rock (+100k, ugh, and this will only grow.)

Lil Wayne's drop will be around the 70% mark, which means he won't even sell 300k. You'll see.

I think this Coldplay album will debut higher than their last which was in the 700K range right? I say this because last album's lead single "Speed of Sound" was successful, yes, but "Viva La Vida" is seeing more success than that. And they also have pre-single "Violet Hill" making quite a splash as well. And the Itunes commercial is proving to be huge for them. Do I know they will sell a million copies, no. But I definitely think it will be 800K + ... With that being said, what should be their second single. I need to listen again but nothing really popped out at me as of yet (the album I thought was good collectively though).

Seeing as X&Y coasted well over a 700k debut, I'd say VLV definitely has a shot at 900-950k.

Good holds for Usher and Journey, big drops for Weezer and Disturbed
Now 28 isn't really as good as it claims to be....
PLZ Coldplay debut #1!
